The Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition (LTBC), a nonprofit bicycle advocacy organization headquartered in Lake Tahoe, has produced an update to the Lake Tahoe Bikeways Map that is now available throughout the Tahoe Region at no charge.

This comprehensive map illustrates the many bikeways in the Tahoe/Truckee region with one side dedicated to the South Shore area and the other side the North Shore area. A bikeway is an inclusive term used on the map to describe all facilities that bicycles may use and they include: separated bike paths, dedicated and shared highway bike lanes, neighborhood connector bike routes, and mountain biking trails. Also included on the map are points of interest, safety information, marinas, parks, and campgrounds – the type of information that helps people make informed navigational decisions.

Fifty thousand (50,000) maps have been printed and are available at leading bike shops, visitor centers, lodging properties, and resorts through the region. Maps have also been distributed to 325 bike shops throughout Northern California and Nevada and at regional bicycling events.

“The maps are designed for and made available to promote and encourage more bicycling throughout the Tahoe Region, and they integrate well into the mission of many organizations working together to make Tahoe a world-class bicycle destination” according to Adam Turner, LTBC board member and representative of Heavenly Sports—one of the map’s sponsors.

Other organizations that have either awarded grant funding or provided monetary donations to LTBC to help facilitate the map’s production, promotion and distribution include: Nevada Commission on Tourism, El Dorado County Cultural Economic Development Department, City of South Lake Tahoe, Bike the West, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, the Tahoe Fund, South Tahoe Transportation Management Association, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, the League to Save Lake Tahoe, Lumos and Associates, and Lakeside Inn, as well as multiple bike shops in the area which are listed in the LTBC’s website directory on

An online map version is also available for download and printing by visiting LTBC’s web site at The map may be downloaded in specific geographic locations of interest and easily printed on 8.5 x 11-inch standard paper.
