Queen of Hearts Flip Flops and Lemon Drops July 25 in North Lake Tahoe

The Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund bi-annual recruitment party, Flip Flops and Lemon Drops, will take place Sunday, July 25, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. The event is always held at a secret lakefront location, which will be provided to confirmed participants only.

Through philanthropy, the Lake Tahoe Queen of Hearts have helped to give back to their community since 2006.  At Flip Flops and Lemon Drops, the current Queens share their passion and commitment to the Fund with interested guests, and hope to recruit new members who possess the desire to make a difference in the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe communities.

The theme this year is “Queen’s favorite things.” Each woman is encouraged to bring one of their favorite items to the event: a bottle of wine, fingernail polish, book, lotion, etc., (with a maximum $20 value) to exchange with one other individual.   There will also be a fancy toes/flip-flops contest, and of course, lemon drops. The fancy toes contest encourages women to creatively combine their personal pedicure and flip-flops to be judged best of the day for a chance to win a relaxing pedicure.

The event is $35 per person. For additional information or to sign up for Flip Flops and Lemon Drops, please contact Ed Bokinskie at the Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation at 530-587-1776 or ed@ttcf.net.

ABOUT THE QUEEN OF HEARTS WOMEN’S FUND

The Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund was officially launched in February 2006. The goal was to identify 1,000 women to give a minimum of $1,000 and raise one million dollar endowment fund within one year.

This goal was quickly exceeded and the fund has raised $1.3 million to date and membership continues to grow. The most appealing benefit of joining the women’s fund is that by giving collectively, we are able to make a bigger difference than any one of us could individually.

The Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund is broad-based in its funding interests making grants in the following areas: Arts, Culture and Public Benefit; Education and Youth Development; Environment, Recreation and Animal Welfare; Health and Human Services.

The Women’s Fund is about empowering women to make positive change. We know that collectively, the women of this fund have already made a tremendous impact in our community.
