Pianist and singer Akiko (Colleen Akiko Jackson) and many other local musicians from Truckee will offer their talents to support emergency relief efforts in Haiti.
Truckee’s Cottonwood Restaurant will host “Live Music for Haiti” on Wednesday, February 3, and For Goodness Sake on Saturday, February 20.
Akiko worked in community development projects in Haiti during the late 80′s and early 90′s, co-founding a grassroots non-profit with Americans and Haitians in 1990.
”The human suffering in Haiti is beyond imagining,” says Akiko. “The world has been coming together to help, and this is something we can do here in Truckee to participate.”
