The Builders Club of the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe is hosting a Shoes for Haiti service project and is reaching out to the community to help.
The goal is to collect as many shoes as possible during the next two weeks for the earthquake victims of Haiti.
Shoes can be new or gently used. As the climate in Haiti is warm, snow boots or heavy winter shoes are not needed. The group is seeking all sizes of shoes, including tennis shoes, slippers, beach shoes, dress shoes and other styles.
There are currently three collection boxes:
- South Tahoe Middle School, 2940 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
- Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, 1100 Lyons Ave.
- South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.
The Builders Club is a middle school-age youth group sponsored by the Kiwanis, a volunteer service organization. For information, call Builders Club adviser Cheryl Millham at (530) 577-2273, or Kristina Weber at the Boys & Girls Club at (530) 542-0838.
