2012 Blue Ribbon Award Winners Announced

With more than 160 nominations received, everyone is a winner. The standouts in eight categories received a 2012 Blue Ribbon Award.

South Shore definitely shines with a nice blend of new and established businesses who provide positive experiences for locals and visitors and acknowledge our creative mountain culture. Hip Hip Hooray!

Unlike years past, the winners and honorable mentions were not notified beforehand and were surprised by the honor during the awards presentation on Thursday night amongst their peers.

Geotourism Award, sponsored by El Dorado County:
A business providing an authentic Tahoe Experience

  • Finalist – Discover Lake Tahoe Tour
  • Honorable Mention- Sustainable Tahoe
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner –The Tahoe Tallac Association

Tourism Award, sponsored by the Lake Tahoe visitors Authority:
A business offering an innovative program, promotion or product for our visitors

  • Finalist – Lake Tahoe Adventures
  • Honorable Mention- MontBleu’s Outdoor Events Center
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner –South Tahoe Standup Paddle

Experience Award, sponsored by the Marriott Vacation Club, Timber Lodge:
A business that provides compelling and captivating experiences

  • Finalist – South Tahoe Standup Paddle
  • Honorable Mention- South Shore Bikes
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner –On Course Events

Entrepreneur Award, sponsored by Getaway Reno/Tahoe:
An innovative individual who assumed the risk of starting a new business

Small Green Business Award, sponsored by South Tahoe Refuse & Recycling:
A business comprised of fewer than 100 employees that is minimizing their impact on the environment

  • Finalist – Tahoe Resource Conservation District
  • Honorable Mention- Connie’s Clothesline
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner- Elevated Fitness

Large Green Business Award, sponsored by Heavenly & Kirkwood Mountain Resorts:
A business comprised of more than 100 employees that is minimizing their impact on the environment

  • Finalist – Vail Resorts, Echo Program
  • Honorable Mention- South Tahoe Refuse & Recycling
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner- Harrah’s & Harveys Lake Tahoe

Public Agency Customer Service Award, sponsored by Tahoe Supply Company:
An individual providing quality service in the not so usual places

  • Finalist – Brandy Johns, Kingsbury General Improvement District
  • Honorable Mention- Dee Kline, El Dorado County Human Services
  • Blue Ribbon Award Winner- Judy Finn, City of South Lake Tahoe

Customer Service Award, sponsored by Well’s Fargo:
An individual who consistently provides quality service
