Yoga Doodles by Sharon Freewoman of The Rainbow Bridge

Sharon Freewoman of The Rainbow Bridge in North Lake Tahoe shares her practice for taking care of herself and getting grounded so we’ll be more refreshed, alert and happy.

When I feel like my brain is ready to explode, my shoulders are touching my earlobes, my face is scrunched up into a multitude of wrinkles (please! I have enough already), it is time for a Yoga Doodle. Yoga Doodle. Yes, it is a silly name though anything that makes me smile I find is worthwhile. You will also remember it.

So just what is a Yoga Doodle you ask? Time for a “take care of me” moment. Walk outside or at least into another room with a window and look at the sky. Notice the clouds or the depth of the cerulean blue color of our great big world.

Take 3 big deep breaths and on the third exhale, bend over and touch the earth or the floor. Allow all the excess tension to run down your arms into your hands and out into the waiting arms of the Earth Mother. She’ll know what to do with it. Rise up and stretch, stretch, stretch your fingers to the sky. Stretch to the left and to the right. Add an affirmation like “I create calm, peace, balance and joy in my life. All my work is done when it needs to be and I have plenty of time to play.” Twist yourself around, take 3 more deep breaths with hands uplifted to the sky to receive the light. You become the light. You are Light.

Now you are ready to resume the work at hand. You will find yourself refreshed, alert and less tense. Making everyone around you much happier! Now my goal is to practice the Yoga Doodle 3 x 3. Three times three is the magical number 9. Nine is the number of completion. Three times in the morning, afternoon and evening. With just a few minutes of time you will be surprised at how much will be accomplished!

I hope you join me in doing Yoga Doodle therapy. Let me know how it works for you.

Happy Doodling!
