How to Finance Green Energy Projects in South Lake Tahoe Jan 28

Looking for ways to finance that new solar heating system or natural gas water heater while reducing your carbon footprint?
The City of South Lake Tahoe may be able to help, and is seeking community input on January 28, 2010.
The City of South Lake Tahoe is considering the implementation of an AB811 program that would make financing arrangements to allow property owners to finance renewable generation and energy efficiency improvements through loans that would be repaid as an item on the property owner’s property tax bill.
The California Assembly Bill 811 (AB811) allows cities and counties in California to designate areas within which willing property owners could enter into contractual assessments to finance the installation of distributed renewable energy generation, as well as energy efficiency improvements, that are permanently fixed to the property owner’s residential, commercial, industrial, or other real property.
Some funded improvements may include:
- Solar photo-voltaic or solar thermal systems
- High efficiency HVAC systems
- High efficiency natural gas water heaters
- Tankless water heaters
- Window and door replacement
- Attic, wall, floor and duct insulation
- High efficiency lighting and light controls
- Occupancy sensors for lighting and HVAC systems
In order to implement a program, the City is asking for input and suggestions from the community regarding what types of energy efficiency and/or sustainable energy improvements would best meet the community’s needs at a workshop on January 28, 2010.
