Shaw Family Farm’s Feast in the Field benefits Slow Food Lake August 21

Celebrate locally grown food and community spirit at the Shaw Family Farm’s Feast in the Field dinner on Saturday, August 21 in Truckee.

A portion of the proceeds will go to support Slow Food Lake Tahoe’s nutritional education outreach program for children.

The evening commences with a 4 p.m. wine reception and tour of the Shaw Family Farm in Glenshire. Guests will then proceed to a dinner featuring a selection of seasonal and farm grown specialties masterfully prepared by Barbara Mills of Back of the House Catering. Each course will be paired with an outstanding Northern Sierra wine.

Imagine corn and zucchini cakes with heirloom tomatoes and buttermilk bleu cheese dressing or the summer chicken pot pie with cheddar thyme crust. Or maybe the grass-fed local California beef meatloaf with organic tomato bacon glaze will get your taste buds watering. Sides include roasted potatoes with garlic aioli, pickled beans, and John Shaw’s multigrain bread with honey butter. And, for dessert, roasted Chattin Family Orchard Sun Crest peaches served with mascarpone cream.

How can a thoughtfully orchestrated menu featuring delectable locally grown food get any better? Fabulous wine, of course! Fortunately, four distinguished wineries – Chalk Hill Estate, Kuleto Estate, Three Rivers and Sebastiani.

Tickets are $150 per person and include a four-course dinner served in the beautiful Pine Meadows followed by dessert and dancing to a High Country blend of Zydeco, bluegrass and blues. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Slow Food Lake Tahoe, a grassroots movement that links the pleasure of food with the commitment to community and the environment. The proceeds from this event are earmarked for the organization’s nutritional education outreach program for children.

The Feast in the Field takes place at the Shaw Family Farm located in Glenshire at 12654 Samuel Drive, Truckee. For more menu details or to purchase tickets, call Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc. at 530.550.2252.
