Eco-Friendly hotel comes to South Shore

Finally.

South Shore has started to evolve into the Green World, with its first custom-built green hotel.

968 Park Spa Resort in South Shore authentically and artistically represents Tahoe’s Mountain Culture and our core beliefs.

It’s a masterful blend of style and eco-consciousness.

Here, all of the rooms have been designed with recycled materials and include original artwork (many from local artists) plus 800 count organic linens, organic soaps, lotions and shampoos, energy-efficient lighting and appliances, dual-flush toilets, low-flow water fixtures, and low energy appliances.

Even the insulation is made from recycled blue jeans and the trash cans are recycled plastic!

968 Park Resort and Spa has set the bar for a new era in Tahoe by supporting the local economy and helping the environment.

Welcome to the Green World.

While many of the green features may go unnoticed to the untrained eye, the facade and interior of this 54-room hotel puts it in your face.

Careful not to strip the hotel of its Tahoe roots, the owners of the property, G.A. Partners, encouraged the local green contractors, Sierra Sustainable Builders, to use their creativity to design a theme that authentically captures an architectural style unique to Tahoe.

Corey and Danny with Sierra Sustainable Builders used wood from the existing building, formerly a Days Inn, along with reclaimed wood they had on hand from various local projects.  Next, SSB used metal on the outside that is designed to rust to a certain point to give the hotel a “rustic Zen” look and theme which is duplicated throughout the interior and exterior of the property.

Besides re-constructing the exterior with reclaimed wood, Corey and Danny built most of the furniture, doors, all of the vanities and bed tables, the kitchen, and the cabinetry using locally reclaimed wood. Every piece of wood they re-purpose adds to the aesthetic quality and character of their custom doors and furniture.  And reduces landfill.

Understanding the true meaning of being green, the owners not only wanted to lower its carbon footprint generated by the hotel.  They knew it was critical to hire a local company in order to keep the money in South Shore.  It’s a win-win for all.

The hotel rates are more than reasonable with Prices ranging from $109 to $199 per night depending on the day of the week and time of year.
