Sierra Nevada Alliance and Patagonia present the 5th Annual Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Lake Tahoe Community College.
The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival sits apart from the hundreds of festivals around the world by hopefully leaving you feeling inspired and motivated to go out and make a difference in your community and the world.

A few of the featured films at this year’s event are:
— “Bag It” by Suzan Beraza, 50 minutes: An average guy makes a simple resolution to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store.
— “Big River” by Curt Ellis and Aaron Woolf, 27 minutes: By the filmmakers of “King Corn,” the crew returns to Iowa to investigate the environmental impact their acre of corn has had on the people and places downstream.
— “Drying For Freedom” by Adam Merrifield and Steven Lake, five minutes: This is a trailer for pending feature film with a summer 2010 release. Fifty million clotheslines are banned in the U.S. A look at the “right to dry.”
— “Flathead Wild” by Trip Jennings, Andrew Maser, 23 minutes: Flathead Wild follows the International League of Conservation photographers as they descend on the Flathead River Valley with local conservation groups.
— “Planting Hope: Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement” by Lisa Merton, Alan Dater, seven minutes: Awarded the Wild and Scenic Honorable Mention Award 2010, the act of planting trees by Kenyan Wangari Maathai grew into a nationwide movement. This is a segment of a longer film.
— “Split Estate” by Debra Anderson, 15 minutes: Imagine discovering that you don’t own the mineral rights under your land, and that an energy company plans to drill for natural gas two hundred feet from your front door. This is an abridged version of the longer film.
— “Young Voices on Climate Change” by Lynne Cherry, 14 minutes: Kids speak directly about their concerns, knowledge and their actions to combat climate change.
Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Join the alliance for $20 and receive two free tickets. All tickets come with one free raffle ticket.Prizes include Patagonia gear, ski passes, restaurant gift certificates, Camelbak Hydration backpacks and more.
