Well known as a breeding ground for elite athletes and year-round adventurers, Lake Tahoe is the stage for the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival to be held December 10, 2016 in South Shore at MontBleu. The pre-party starts at 6:30pm.
Designed to capture the intensity and passion of adventure and Tahoe mountain culture, the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival showcases breathtaking video footage of adventure thrill seekers as they ski, bike, jump, climb and surf the world.
See you there!
This year, the festival will include edits that highlight the lifestyle of the action and adventure athlete. Several films delve into the mindset of the adventurer and how each lives their life to the fullest. The film “Snow Flake” reveals the passion of one of Switzerland’s happiest ski bums. A sneak peek of “Dirt Bag Climber” is a film Offenbacher has been directly involved in for 15 years. The film follows the life and commitment of 93-year-old American climber Fred Beckey. The full-length version will be released in spring of 2017.
Along with the films, audiences are kept on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the next recipient of the coveted Golden Camalot for 2016. For the past 11 years, Offenbacher has presented the Golden Camalot to honor action and adventure sports pioneers for their astounding contributions, excellence, achievements, and leadership that have shaped so many lives and defined our culture. Past recipients include Royal Robbins, Tommy Caldwell, Glen Plake, Fred Beckey, Jeremy Jones, Alex Honnold, Steve Wampler, Hatchett Brothers, Corey Rich, Doug Stoup, Robb Gaffney, and Chris McNamerra.
Offenbacher, TAFF founder and host of Outside Television, is part of this elite group of daredevils. He guides ski mountaineering trips to the Arctic Circle and Antarctica annually. The festival is an extension of Todd’s passionate nature and life of adventure full of challenges that helps him excel in all areas of life with greater clarity. “I’ve traveled the globe to ski, climb, and explore where I’ve met so many likeminded people living the same dream,” says Offenbacher. “This festival comes from my heart and soul, and represents the collective passion and lessons learned to inspire everyone to pursue their dreams with gusto.”
A gigantic raffle sponsored by Mammut will raise money for the nonprofit Sierra Avalanche Center and will include season ski passes to Lake Tahoe resorts, a Points North Heli-Ski trip, Stay and Ski packages, and enough gear to stock any adventurer’s garage. The 2016 Tahoe Adventure Film Festival debuts at its birthplace in South Lake Tahoe, on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. followed by the films at 7:30 p.m.
