Those searching for an inclusive and unique experience should look no further than Sample the Sierra, South Lake Tahoe’s farm to fork festival that showcases local restaurants, farmers, artists, wineries, breweries and more.
The festival will take place at Bijou Community Park on September 17 from noon to 5pm focusing on the rich heritage and bounty of the region while highlighting the talent that resides in the Sierra Nevada.
Meet the wine makers, restaurants, chefs and farmers that put El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe on the map as a year round culinary playground. Several local restaurants and farmers will be paired together to create mouthwatering food samples that perfectly complement some of the best wines in El Dorado County. A marketplace open for attendees to shop for locally made jewelry, art, wood works and more. Live local music will entertain the crowds, along with scheduled cooking demonstrations by participating chefs using local seasonable products.
Sample the Sierra also features the Sierra Chefs Challenge, a cooking challenge between three regional chefs cooking with locally sourced ingredients. Watch three of the most talented chefs prepare delicious meals – and even get the opportunity to taste them!
The weekend is full of festivities for the whole family including farm tours, winemaker dinners, music, live entertainment and art; all culminating with a fireworks extravaganza over Lake Tahoe.
Sample the tasting booths to look forward to at the festival; each featuring a different restaurant, winery, and farmer. The festival marketplace will showcase unique, handmade products made right here in our backyard, including soap, spices, jewelry, photography, pastel paintings and more. Live entertainment will include music as well as the Sierra Chef Challenge where two local chefs go head-to-head as they are each presented a box of fresh produce and asked to come up with their best dish.
Tickets to Sunday’s Farm-to-Fork Festival can be purchased in advance online at www.SampletheSierra.com or in person at the event via cash or credit card. Look for participating restaurants offering special “Sample the Sierra” menu items or promotions featuring local wines or local products.
