Museum Fundraiser “Chautaqua at Lake Tahoe” Sept 20 at Valhalla

0357 Tallac CasinoThe Lake Tahoe Historical Society presents “Chautauqua at Lake Tahoe,” a fundraiser on September 20, 2015 starting at 5pm at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater.

You will be entertained by the likes of Warren Upson (intrepid Pony Express rider), Hank Monk (Knight of the Lash), Anita Baldwin (tempestuous daughter of mining tycoon Elias J. “Lucky” Baldwin), Ephraim “Yank” Clement (Champeen Liar of the Sierry), and our special guest star Mark Twain, portrayed by well-known Twain impressionist McAvoy Layne.

McAvoy-Layne-Tahoe CultureTickets are limited and only available at the Museum located at 3058 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe. There are no reserved seats, so act quick or you’ll be history!  Refreshments and dinner will take place.

Chautauqua are historical stories about Tahoe told in first person. Chautauquas started in 1874 in New York as a way of entertaining and educating the public.
