If you’ve been lost in translation on your own turf or abroad, here’s your chance to learn Spanish without leaving Tahoe and earn school units.
For one week only in August, the Lake Tahoe Community College campus transforms into a Mexican pueblo, offering students an immersion into the Spanish language and culture. The LTCC Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI) takes place August 6-10, 2012.
The language courses are endless with a multitude of levels for beginners to High Advanced. Like Quick and Dirty Grammar focused on the oddities of present tense, or the Travel Vocabulary Builder, Translation Traps and Tricks, A Cure for “Subjunctivitis”, and Spanish Slang and Street language.
And, since the beauty of the Spanish language evolves from the Spanish culture, ISSI has several cultural breakout sessions presented primarily in Spanish by native speakers while you’re in Mexico…I mean LTCC. Here’s a few of the sessions:
- Famous Latina Women
- Music and Dance including Tango, Merengue, Salsa, Salsa Rueda, Flamenco
- Mexican Arts and Crafts, and Spanish Artists
- Children’s Games from Mexico
- Literature, Legends and Myths
- Culture Through Art
