An Evening of Food & Wine by Soroptimists to Support Community Nov 7

Known as the “Best of Tahoe,” it’s one of our favorite annual South Lake Tahoe  events to raise money for our community while savoring delectable local cuisine and regional wines.

And, it’s been going on for 44 years now – wow!  An Evening of Food & Wine Tasting presented by Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at Harrah’s starting at 6pm.

“An Evening of Food & Wine Tasting” raises money to fund the many projects and programs sponsored by Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe.

Attendee’s will sip on incredible wine from approximately 25 of Northern California’s top wineries and sample a wide variety of delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts from approximately 20 of the South Shore’s finest restaurants. We have a great winery lineup to date with wineries Silver Oak, Trefethen, Duckhorn and many new wineries with some of your old favorites in attendance. “An Evening of Food & Wine Tasting” raises money to fund the many projects and programs sponsored by Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe. All proceeds are directed back into our community through educational scholarships, youth activity sponsorships and grants to organizations such as the Live Violence Free Center, Tahoe Youth and Family, the Drug Store Project, Christmas Cheer, Girls on the Run, Tahoe Arts Project and numerous projects that enhance services and quality of life in our community.

Tickets for the Food & Wine event are $65 each and could be purchased from your favorite SISLT member or at www.sislt.org. Please remember that all participants must be at least 21 to attend.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to bid on a huge selection of fabulous items in our silent auction. The silent auction features fine wine, jewelry and art as well as gift certificates for local restaurants, stores, hotels and professional services.

Also there will be raffle tickets with exceptional prizes: A Limited Edition Giclee Print, by Holly Kavonic (Valued at $1200) Donated by Pacific Crest Art Gallery, Golf for 4 at Edgewood Golf course (value $800)and a wine cellar with 20 bottles of premium wine (value $1,000).

Don’t forget to purchase your fashionable $20 Bling Ring which will enter you into a raffle for a high-value Grand Prize vacation package from Royal Aloha Vacation Club for one week with a variety of locations for the winner to choose from.

The 2014 event will feature Flamenco guitarist, Julian Martin, while guests are arriving. We also have Lauren Lindley’s photo booth for a fun way to photograph this year plus Leslie Timmerman, professional photographer, will be wandering the crowd for candid photos of you that you can purchase later. We are having a Dress to Impress Contest with the winning woman and the winning man to receive 2 free tickets to next year’s event.

Each year, our club asks artists from around the Tahoe area to submit entries for our annual poster competition. For 2014 our winning entry was from local artist, Jenay Aiksnoras. Her exceptional photo, Toast, captures the spirit of this event.

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe was founded in 1958. It is a part of a worldwide organization of women committed to the advancement and enhancement of women, and the issues and concerns in women’s lives.
