Vegan Valentine DinnerThe chosen venue for the region’s Third Annual Gourmet Vegan Valentine’s Dinner hosted by Reno Vegans and High Sierra Veggies & Vegans is Reno’s newest Italian restaurant, Scampi. Previously sold out events were held at the Crest Café in Tahoe City and Fredrick’s Fusion Bistro in Incline Village.

The five-course, gourmet menu will be made without animal products or by-products and is inspired by seasonal, fresh ingredients. The evening will begin with cocktails, socializing and live music.  The dinner is Sunday, February 17th at 5:00 p.m. “Vegan menu options and vegan restaurants are emerging in cities around the country as restaurateurs cater to this hugely popular eating trend. We are thrilled to expand this annual event to our Reno neighbors to give people a chance to sample cruelty-free foods and for chefs to have an opportunity to be creative beyond their regular menu.” Keaven Van Lom, of High Sierra Veggies & Vegans

Fredrick’s Fusion Bistro has now added a vegan chocolate cake dessert to their menu following last year’s successful event.

Valentine’s Day is all about love and the event’s theme encourages that: Love your body; love the animals; love the earth.  A vegan diet reduces your carbon footprint, improves your health, reduces world hunger, and saves the lives of more than 100 animals a year from the horrors of factory farming cruelty.

“We are encouraging people to take this opportunity to try delicious foods made without animal products,” says Anita Dombovari of Reno Vegans. “And, there is simply nothing more powerful one can do to improve health and to help our planet than to eat consciously and compassionately.”

The dinner is Sunday, February 17th at 5:00 p.m. The cost is $52 per person online and $55 at the door. The five course menu includes two glasses of wine, live music, and an optional $10 donation to Reno’s CockadooleMoo Farm Animal Sanctuary.
