Tahoe Star Tours, Music and Poety at Northstar Sept 11

A sizzling alpenglow sunset sets the stage followed by a pitch black sky that illuminates the stars and planets.  It’s the perfect venue for a tribute to Carl Sagan.

Join star guide and poet Tony Berendsen of Tahoe Star Tours, as he honors Dr. Sagan during a fascinating night of science, poetry, star gazing and music at Northstar on September 11th.

Following a summer of star tours, the final tour is a tribute to astronomer and author Carl Sagan, the leading modern pioneer who opened our eyes and minds up to astronomy, astrophysics and other natural sciences, as well as our curiosity about extra terrestrials, Venus, Saturn and Mars.  The tribute will include a poem reading by Tony, a laser tour of the stars and constellations, discussion of Sagan’s theories and advances of astronomy, a telescopic viewing, and music by the string quartet, Accent Nevada. So bring a child’s curiosity and plenty of questions for an evening of wonder and awe.  Coffee, hot chocolate and dessert will also be served.

Guests will ride the Highlands Gondola to the top where they’ll meet up with Tony at the Ritz-Carlton Destination Club at 8:30 p.m.  Following the tour, the group will walk back to the gondola and decend back down to the Village at Northstar around 10:30 p.m.

The Tribute to Carl Sagan and summer concert star tour is $75 for adults, and students and children 18 and under are $50.  Please note the event is subject to cancellation due to weather.  Click here for details.

Tony Berendsen is an award winning amateur astronomer residing in Reno, Nevada.
