Get ready for skiing with “Some Thing Else” from Powderwhore Productions, capturing the steepest and deepest powder on the expeditions to the most remote mountain ranges on the planet.  Movie starts at 6pm on Thursday, October 16th at Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema.

Powderwhore Productions have become a mainstay during the fall series of ski movie premiers. They excel at utilizing the most interesting characters on snow, low-brow humor, and deep powder shots. It is their belief that all of these facets are highly worthy of their ten years filming the backcountry experience.

“Some Thing Else” is a propaganda piece that promotes the joys and wonder of exploring winter on skis and splitboard. Far from the big budget films of better known companies, the Powderwhores continually capture the soul of backcountry skiing in the most amazing setting imaginable, all accessed via human-power.

The Powderwhores pride themselves on breaking trail with those who are willing to put in the time, education, and respect the mountains deserve ….. and record it for posterity.

Highlights include:

• A dream trip to Hokkaido, Japan

• A yurt stay in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana

• Steep spine clinics in the Tordrillo Mountains of Alaska

• Phat Camp with Andrew McLean in the Wrangell St. Alias National Park

• Snowy Mountain Lodge in British Columbia with JP Auclair who left us too soon on Sept 29 while riding in Chile, along with fellow badass skier Andreas Fransson, and Liz Daley.

Here’s a wonderful remembrance by Scott Secco of Pink Bike. It’s a sweet memoriam.

“The last time I saw JP was at the Whistler premiere of Into the Mind. I introduced him to my friend Jonas and, JP, quoting a study he read about saying that hugging someone for longer than 20 seconds creates an emotional bond between people, hugged him for 30 seconds and made yet another person feel as if they’d just made a new best friend. JP was a badass skier, a visionary filmmaker, and most importantly an immensely kind person. I feel lucky to have got to know him a little bit and I wish I could go on one more bike ride with him. Thanks for the inspiration JP.”  Scott Secco

Tickets will be available at Alpenglow Sports or at the door. Please come early for drink specials and good seating. The show begins at 6pm. Please call Alpenglow Sports at 530.583.6917 with questions. The Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema in Tahoe City has a theater and bar, featuring independent and commercial movies and live music.
