Named by weekly magazine The Nation as “The most important financial journalist of her generation,” Morgenson will discuss insights regarding the recent financial crisis gathered from her book, ‘Reckless Endangerment, How Outsized Ambition, Greed and Corruption Led to Economic Armageddon”on Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 PM at Squaw. This Squaw Valley Institute event includes a no-host reception starting at 6:30 PM with a book signing following the hour and a half lecture. “Reckless Endangerment” is a Washington Post Notable Nonfiction Book for 2011 and one of The Economist’s 2011 Books of the Year.

According to a New York Times book review by former labor secretary Robert Reich, ‘Reckless Endangerment’ authors Gretchen Morgenson and Joshua Rosner, an expert on housing finance, concentrate on specific individuals who played key roles in the financial system meltdown and “deftly trace the beginnings of the collapse to the mid-1990s, when the Clinton administration called for a partnership between the private sector and Fannie and Freddie to encourage home buying.”

Tickets available online or at the door: $25 for members and students with an ID, $35 for general public. For advance ticket purchase, and for more information, visit www.squawvalleyinstitute.org.
