What is LEED?
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types including new construction, commercial interiors, core & shell, operations & maintenance, homes, neighborhoods, and specific applications such as retail, multiple buildings/campuses, schools, healthcare, laboratories and lodging. The LEED rating system was created by members of the US Green Building Council, representing every sector of the building industry. They continue to refine LEED. USGBC has more than 10,000 member organizations and 75 regional chapters united to advance their mission of transforming the building industry to sustainability.
