On Thursday, December 17th, 2015 7pm local hero and extreme snowboarding icon Jeremy Jones will continue the Alpenglow Sports Winter Series at Squaw Valley’s world-famous Olympic Village Lodge.
He will present “An Extreme Snowboarding Retrospective,” which captures his two decades as a premier big mountain rider, and contains readings from his new book and a tribute to the role that the Lake Tahoe mountain community has had on his snowboarding.
“We’re very excited to continue the series with local legend and snowboarding pioneer Jeremy Jones. Watching Jeremy revolutionize the entire sport of snowboarding, chalking up some of the steepest, rowdiest descents ever captured on film has been a total privilege. Jones has evolved from an extreme athlete to an environmental advocate, a champion of the human-powered experience in the mountains, and a business owner, which in my mind has been his most impressive feat,” added Madigan.
Jones will showcase a blend of photos and video spanning over twenty years of riding and the central role the Lake Tahoe mountain community has played in his development as a winter sports athlete. From first descents on steep spine lines in Alaska, to backcountry missions in remote mountain ranges across the globe, Jones will entertain with beautiful photography and edge-of-the-seat extreme helmet camera footage.
The Alpenglow Sports Winter Film Series has become an eagerly anticipated winter tradition for North Tahoe’s skiing, climbing, and adventure community. Designed to inspire, motivate and educate, the event runs from November through March and showcases five famous athletes who tell various tales of adventure from remote mountain ranges across the globe. All shows are free and raffle prizes from sponsors are sold to raise funds for local non-profit organizations.
The non-profit beneficiary for the evening is Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, the group responsible for providing fast and efficient search parties for anyone lost or in need throughout North Lake Tahoe. Amazing raffle prizes will be on hand from generous sponsors Clif Bar, Jones Snowboards, Sony, POC and more.
