1st Annual Tahoe City Pub Crawl Sept 6

Robert M WatsonTahoe City, according to Judge Vernon, was not a totally law abiding town.

There was gambling and drinking during the prohibition years, and there were many locations where one could purchase whiskey if they knew the “ropes”. Speakeasies dotted the north shore in Truckee, in the back yard tents of Tahoe City and in bigger venues like the Cal Neva.

On September 6, 2009 Tahoe City patrons can raise their glasses to an earlier time of lawlessness and to the Watson Family who helped develop this beautiful area during the 1st annual Tahoe City Pub Crawl.

Join the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society at the Watson Cabin in Tahoe City starting at 6:30pm.  Get your commemorative glass ($5/each), pick up your speakeasy password, and visit participating “gin mills” for old-time drink specials. Participating “speakeasies” include Blue Agave, Jake’s on the Lake, Bridgetender, Syd’s Bagelry, Fat Cat Deli, Lakeside Pizza and more that will be listed at the Watson Cabin.

The Tahoe City Pub Crawl/Prohibition Night takes place Sunday, September 6th, and runs from 6:30pm to 9pm.  It is the final Watson Cabin Centennial Event and is the last chance for visitors to see the Cabin before it closes for the winter months and learn about Robert “Bob” Watson. The event is in coordination with the Tahoe City Downtown Association and will occur after the final concert on Commons Beach. Commemorative T-shirts, drinking glasses and prohibition memorabilia will be available for purchase at Watson Cabin.

The Watson Cabin is located in the heart of Tahoe City, across the street from Rosie’s Restaurant. For additional information, contact Sarah Schaefer, event coordinator, at (530) 583-1762.
