Drag out your beads, bell-bottoms, and tie-dyed tank tops for the 32nd anniversary of the Requiem for John Lennon performed by TOCCATA (Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus) on Monday, August 20th at Sand Harbor State Park at 7:30pm.
Join Maestro James Rawie and Friends, a soft rock band, and the singers of the TOCCATA chorus to belt out “Yesterday” and “Imagine” as you dance down memory lane and relive music by the Beatles in a “Classical Requiem” format interspersed with five centuries of Mozart, madrigals, motets, and folk-rock music.
If you’ve ever heard them, you won’t want to miss one performance.
Led by James Rawie, Artistic Director and Conductor, TOCCATA presents concerts of classical symphonic and choral masterpieces all summer throughout Lake Tahoe and the Northern Nevada region. TOCCATA has a style all its own that showcases local talent and our one-of-a-kind arts and culture.
Tickets are $80, $42 and $25, sold through the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival box office: laketahoeshakespeare.com/tickets or (800) 74-SHOWS.
This concert is supported by a grant from the Kling Family Foundation.
TOCCATA continues their Summer MusicFest September 12-16 with the 11th anniversary commemorating the 9/11 tragedy. The German Requiem by Johannes Brahms will be presented with soloists Joy Strotz and Anna Helwing, soprano; and Stuart Duke, baritone.
