KidZone Museum presents the 2nd Annual Tahoe Family Festival August 28

The 2011 Tahoe Family Festival, benefiting KidZone Museum, a non-profit children’s museum, promises to be an event full of activities for families looking to play, discover, explore and have fun.
As a last hurrah before school begins, this year’s Family Festival is set for Sunday, August 28, at the Truckee Regional Park from noon till 6 p.m. and will highlight live music, food, cycling, face painting and much more.
Kids are FREE. Adults are $5.
Enjoy a day filled with fabulous live music, yummy food and tons of children’s activities including a bounce house, face painting, bubble mania, fun games and family yoga. Kids will love the ongoing bike rodeo all afternoon which includes an obstacle course, bike safety, and a strider running bike! Helmets required.
All attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, skate, etc. to the event.
In two years the event has raised over $16,000 which supports programs at the museum such as free bus service for 30-50 families from Kings Beach and Truckee to visit the museum and participate in science and art through the museum’s nationally recognized program KidsReach. At the KidZone Museum families enjoy innovative hands-on exhibits like the new under the sea exhibit, “Starfish Enterprise” which includes an Imagination Playground, a submarine and indoor sand play. The entire exhibit was built by community volunteers.
This event encourages families to be social with their kids, embrace alternative forms of transportation and highlight family friendly business in the area as well as local performing art talent. In addition, this is a fundraising event for KidZone Museum. Food and drinks will be provided by Full Belly Deli, Tourist Club, and Bonzai Coffee. Please bring your own chairs and blankets.
Music and entertainment include Todd Wees, Lucky Diaz & the Family Band, Quartet Minus One, Todd Wees & DJ Brian Hess.
