Let the adventure begin!
This summer, give your child the opportunity to become a butterfly expert, a Junior Ranger, or a paleontologist, and still have time to play and dream in the great outdoors June 11 – August 3, 2012.
Great Basin Naturalists Environmental Science Camp, a program of Great Basin Institute, offers youth ages 8 – 12 the opportunity to experience the outdoors through hands-on games, hikes, guided activities, field trips, guest presenters and simple exploration and play.
The goal is to provide kids with the opportunity to explore the outdoors in a safe, fun, nurturing, and engaging setting. Each day, campers will play and explore in Galena Creek Park while learning about the rich natural and cultural history of Nevada, from streams and trees to bears and bugs. They’ll meet special guests like firefighters and scientists, complete service learning projects, and enjoy Friday field trips that range from visits with a storyteller to overnight camping. Parents may register their children for individual weeks or the entire session.
