On July 1, 2005, he started his journey from the Golden Gate Bridge. Thirty-three countries, 25,811 miles and 34 months later, he returned to South Lake Tahoe.
Rick Gunn, photographer, writer and adventurer, will present his Soulcycler bicycle journey around the world through words and images on Wednesday, March 3, at the Sierra Nevada College at 7pm. It’s free and the public is invited.

“Race for Tara” Downhill Benefit Oct 10-11 @ Northstar
On October 10-11, 2009, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort will serve as host to the 3rd Annual ‘Race for Tara,’ a benefit race weekend that is open to downhill mountain bike competitors of all abilities and will raise funds for the Tara Llanes Road to Recovery Fund and the Christopher Reeve Foundation to find a cure for spinal cord injury.

This is so cool.
The Truckee Trails Foundation website provides updates on the mountain bike trail, roads and bikeway conditions in North Shore and Truckee.
Each trail update includes an open status, trail type, difficulty, directions to the trail head, and a description of the trail – written by a local who knows the trail.
And, there’s even a Google Map for each dirt trail so you can pinpoint your ride. Sweet!

Rick Gunn Slide Show June 4 @ Edgewood
Following his heart warming 3-year journey around the world, we all know Rick Gunn.

After 25,881 miles, Rick crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, Saturday, May 3, at 11 am.
He’ll be back in Tahoe this week.
They made it! Alaska to Argentina by Bike to raise $ for schools.
On February 10th, the members of team A2A (2 are from North Shore) arrived in Ushuaia, Argentina.
They rode their bikes 15,120 miles (that’s over 137 mile days) from Alaska to Argentina.
