Art, Music and Snowboarding Rail Jam at MontBleu March 27
Tahoe’s elite local snowboarding athletes will be competing for a $2,000 cash purse prize at the Salomon Backyard Bang rail jam at South Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Casino and Resort on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 4pm to 7pm.
Live music and a special showing of the “I AM SNOWBOARDING” art project immediately follows.

Nate Holland of Squaw to compete in Snowboard Cross at 2010 Winter Olympics
Inspired by early snowboard movies with Sean Farmer hucking himself off the Fingers of KT-22, Nate Holland moved to Squaw Valley in 1999.
Eleven years later, Nate is headed to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver once again to compete in the Snowboard Cross.
Way to go Nate!
Jamaica Ski Team rooted at Alpine Meadows
They may have just one member, but the Jamaica Ski Team (Errol Kerr that is) has made Alpine Meadows its training grounds for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, February 12 – 28, 2010.
Errol Kerr, 23, has taken the ski cross world by storm and has officially qualified for the Winter Games.
Hannah and Elena to compete in Halfpipe at 2010 Winter Olympics
Hannah Teter representing Sierra-at-Tahoe and Elena Hight riding for Northstar-at-Tahoe are headed to Vancouver to compete in the 2010 Winter Games February 12-28, 2010. They’ll be competing against each other in the Halfpipe event.
But first, they will show their stuff at the Winter X Games held January 28-31 in Aspen.

She won the Women’s North Face Masters event at Kirkwood in 2009, and is back to defend her crown in The Cirque on February 25 through 27, 2010.

With the 2010 Winter Games just a few short months away, Olympic hopefuls Hannah Teter and Elijah Teter from Sierra-at-Tahoe are looking toward the U.S. Grand Prix qualifying events in December with high expectations of landing a spot on the U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team.
They want You…to wear their clothing.

Action snowsport photography and video from around the world highlight the 14th annual “In The Mood” benefit for the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center, Thursday, December 3rd, at Resort at Squaw Creek.
“After all these years the event has grown from a cozy crowd to attracting over 600 people,” says Robert “Fro” Frohlich, President of Snowtribe Productions, a cancer patient, and co-organizer along with Hank deVre for the charitable evening. “It’s a fun party, a celebration of the coming of winter, and a great way to give back to the community.”

To commemorate her ongoing humanitarian efforts in Africa, Ben & Jerry’s has honored fellow Vermont native and gold medalist snowboarder Hannah Teter with its newest flavor, Maple Blondie.
It is the first flavor created for an athlete by the company.
As part of Ben & Jerry’s social mission, a portion of the ice cream sales will benefit Hannah’s Gold, Teter’s charity that funds various projects in Kenya.

A BASE jump will highlight the 60th anniversary celebration on Squaw Valley’s opening day on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Anchoring the opening day ceremonies is a BASE jump from the top of the resort’s cable car by Squaw Valley Pro skier JT Holmes. Ceremonies begin at 2 p.m.

The Ponderosa lift will be in operation as well as the Flying Jenny surface lift for Ski School classes. The Pondo Terrain Park will be available with multiple rail and box features.

Free Premier of “Forever” Snowboard Flick @ LTCC October 30
Take an intimate look into the world of professional photography and a special showing of Forum Snowboards “Forever,” its 6th team-inspired snowboarding film, on Friday, October 30, at the Duke Theatre at the Lake Tahoe Community College.
South Shore snowboard photographers and former students Tim Peare and Ian Ruhter who shoot for Forum will present their work and stories about film making.
The movie is free and doors open at 6:30pm with complimentary food and beverages. The movie starts at 7:30pm.

Sierra Nevada College to Offer South American Travel Courses Program
Beginning in July 2009, Sierra Nevada College will be offering a travel course opportunity in Bariloche, Argentina.
Students from any college or university-as well as high school students age 15 or older-will be eligible to receive college credit from SNC for courses taken during the program.

New for 2009, mini Southshore Soldier Camps will be offered, focusing on progressive park riding and safety.

Hannah Teter, pro snowboarder from South Lake Tahoe, recently created Hannah’s Gold, a Vermont maple syrup company that donates 100% of its profits to funding infrastructure and humanitarian needs in the African village of Kirindon in Kenya.
