Keep Sierra CleanSierra-at-Tahoe’s annual Keep Sierra Clean day will be held October 11, 2009 and is aiming to collect 2,000 pounds of trash from the slopes.

Last year’s clean up effort yielded over 1,820 pounds of trash including 3 snowboards, an iPod, a digital camera and a Blackberry.

Keep Tahoe Mussel Free with Boat Inspections

zebraquaggacomparisonBeginning in June, boaters launching at Lake Tahoe will pay a fee to help fund an inspection program to prevent the introduction of such aquatic invasive species as the quagga and zebra mussel.

Fees will range from $10 to $60 depending on vessel size.
