Truckee Trail Updates 24/7
This is so cool.
The Truckee Trails Foundation website provides updates on the mountain bike trail, roads and bikeway conditions in North Shore and Truckee.
Each trail update includes an open status, trail type, difficulty, directions to the trail head, and a description of the trail – written by a local who knows the trail.
And, there’s even a Google Map for each dirt trail so you can pinpoint your ride. Sweet!

The Nifty 50 Trolley based in South Lake Tahoe will offer service to Tahoma on the west shore where you can board the TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) bus and travel on to Tahoe City, Truckee, Crystal Bay, Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista and Incline Village.
11th Annual Children’s Environmental Science Day July 10 in Tahoe City
The grand opening of the new Eriksson Education Center is kicking off with Children’s Environmental Science Day on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 1-4 pm.

Conservation Garden Grand Opening July 14
The grand opening of the Patricia S. Sutton Conservation Garden will take place July 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Truckee Donner Public Utility District.
Named in honor of longtime Truckee resident and dedicated TDPUD board member Patricia S. Sutton, the demonstration garden showcases ways to achieve beautiful landscaping in a high Sierra climate, while saving precious water and money. The free event will honor Patricia S. Sutton, officially open the conservation garden and launch the District’s new web-based water-wise garden resource.

To get you on the water quicker and to protect Lake Tahoe from the aquatic invasive mussels, watercraft inspection stations will open Memorial Day weekend at four designated, roadside locations around Lake Tahoe.
Access to roadside inspection stations will increase efficiency at Lake Tahoe boat ramps and increase access to aquatic invasive species decontamination equipment, according to watercraft inspectors.

Sierra-at-Tahoe’s annual Keep Sierra Clean day will be held October 11, 2009 and is aiming to collect 2,000 pounds of trash from the slopes.
Last year’s clean up effort yielded over 1,820 pounds of trash including 3 snowboards, an iPod, a digital camera and a Blackberry.

Keep Tahoe Mussel Free with Boat Inspections
Beginning in June, boaters launching at Lake Tahoe will pay a fee to help fund an inspection program to prevent the introduction of such aquatic invasive species as the quagga and zebra mussel.
Fees will range from $10 to $60 depending on vessel size.
