Tahoe Youth Ballet Spring Repertory Season 2012 – March 9 & 10

Tahoe Youth Ballet presents its fourth annual winter repertory season featuring local and guest artists in the beloved Frank Sinatra Showroom in the Cal Neva Resort on March 9 and 10, 2012.

The evening is a celebration of women’s roles in dance, including the second act of the classic Giselle and a new work, Into the Trees, created by Tahoe Youth Ballet dancers in collaboration with guest dancers and choreographers.

Free Guided Snowshoe Treks

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is offering free guided snowshoe treks along the famous trail that winds 165 miles peak to peak around Lake Tahoe. From ice falls on the new Van Sickle State Park trail, to a full moon hike on Mount Rose, it’s no wonder everyone loves this trail.

On March 3rd join fellow hikers for a strenuous, eight mile trek to Martis Peak, located above Kings Beach on the North Shore.

Annual Truckee Rotary Crab Feed March 24

Each year the Rotary Club of Truckee selects a local nonprofit group to benefit from the silent auction at the annual Crab and Pasta Feed slated for March 24, 2012.

All proceeds from the event’s live auction will benefit Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS), a public charter school within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. SELS board member Erica Stein said the school plans to use the money raised from the auction to start a capital campaign fund to pay for needed additional classroom space.

Arts For the Schools presents Jazz Reach Feb 3 at the Cal Neva Resort

Continuing to bring world class dance performances to Truckee and Lake Tahoe that lets local children interact with the performers, Arts For the Schools will  present Jazz Reach, a Multi-Media Jazz Concert on Friday, February 3rd, 7:00 p.m. at the Cal Neva, Frank Sinatra Showroom.

Two Billion Cars: Driving Towards Sustainability Feb 23

History of the Comstock by Mark McLaughlin Feb 25

Winter is here and it’s time to celebrate with a full day of fun activities for kids and families at Tahoe Donner on Saturday, January 21, 2012.

Community Tree Lighting and Annual Gala at Sierra Nevada College Dec 1-3

To say thank you to the Lake Tahoe community, the Sierra Nevada College is holding a free Community Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 1, with Santa, carolers, cookies and the debut of the college’s new mascot.

To raise money for the SNC Academic and Scholarship Programs, the Annual Gala will take place December 3rd.

Andrew McLean by Jay BeyerHis passion for ski mountaineering was cause for being voted as one of the “Greatest Skiers of Our Time” by Powder Magazine and a featured segment in the Sony Classic Pictures film entitled “Steep.”
