Its mission is simple.

Use the power of dance and music to cultivate life skills in our local youth and to inspire an enduring passion for the arts. By offering a wide variety of dance classes and workshops, InnerRhythms Dance Center believes dance and music will help awaken individual and community consciousness one beat at a time.

InnerRhythms Dance Center is located in Truckee, and offers classes in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern ,Tap and MiniRhythms for mini dancers.

The goal of the InnerRhythms is to offer a thorough education in dance equivalent to the interests and abilities of the serious student. Teachers encourage students to focus on more than one dance style in order to experience a more complete development. Additionally, as students gain strength and maturity, InnerRhythms provides opportunity for young artists to take their talent to the next level by participating in our Performance Companies, InnerRhythms Dance Theatre and our award winning Hip-Hop troupe, RhythMatriX.

InnerRhythms Dance Theatre has been a founding producer of Trails & Vistas since 2004, and also hosts Summer Dance Camps and Intensives during the months of July and August for Truckee/North Lake Tahoe and the Northern Nevada region.

InnerRhythms, Inc. is a California 501-(c)-3 non-profit organization founded in 2002 whose vision is to promote cultural enhancement in the Truckee/North Tahoe/Northern Nevada community through education, performance excellence and a unique, collaborative alliance between dance and other performing and media arts.

Not what you initially think when you hear “Tiffany”, but guns and glass are an important part of this iconic family’s legacy celebrated at the Nevada Museum of Art starting February 11th.

Art Glass of the Tiffany Era is a unique presentation that will unite three distinct exhibitions that celebrate art of the Tiffany era. The Tiffany family design legacy is presented in this unique mix of exhibitions featuring Louis Comfort Tiffany’s stained glass of the Art Nouveau era and a rare collection of Tiffany & Co.’s decorative firearms. Charles Lewis Tiffany established Tiffany & Co. in 1837; while his son Louis Comfort Tiffany later founded Tiffany Studios, renowned for exquisite decorative objects.

Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933), an American artist and designer who worked in the decorative arts, is best known for his work in stained glass. Originally a painter, he became interested in glassmaking around 1875. In the beginning of his career, Tiffany used cheap jelly jars and bottles because they had the mineral impurities that provided a depth and texture that finer glass lacked. Unable to convince glassmakers to retain the impurities, Tiffany began making his own glass in a variety of colors and textures that became his trademark for designing numerous stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry, enamels and metalwork. To this day, Tiffany is the American artist most associated with the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements.

Out of the Forest: Art Nouveau Lamps

This exhibition features 20 stained glass lamps manufactured in the early 20th century by the companies of Tiffany Studios; Handel; Durand; and Duffner & Kimberly. The exhibition focuses on themes related to the Art Nouveau style and its inspiration in nature, as well as the history of various design companies who competed for customers at the turn of the century. The lamps will be displayed on a 75-foot-long custom pedestal system designed in the shape of a dragonfly—Tiffany Studio’s company logo.

All of the objects in this exhibition are from the private collection of Byron Vreeland.

In the Company of Angels: Seven Rediscovered Tiffany Windows

Comprised of seven stained glass window panels, the works in this exhibition were created by Tiffany Studios at the beginning of the 20th century and named for the angels in the Book of Revelation from the Bible. The windows were originally installed in the Church of the New Jerusalem in Cincinnati, Ohio until it was taken by eminent domain and demolished for highway construction in 1964. The windows, crated and stored in various garages and sheds for decades, were re-discovered in 2001. This national exhibition tour debuts the story of these seven rediscovered Tiffany Windows.

Arthur Femenella, a Tiffany stained glass expert, and conservator overseeing the restoration of these windows, explains: “These Tiffany windows are selected from a rich and varied palette of opalescent, drapery, rolled, textured, antiqued and flashed glass. The faces and flesh of the angels are delicately hand painted with vitreous paint. The rest of the windows are exquisitely plated, a technique developed by Tiffany and John La Farge involving the mechanical layering of layers of glass used to achieve great depth.”

Tiffany & Co. Arms from the Robert M. Lee Collection

This exclusive, single-venue exhibition highlights the wares of Tiffany & Co., the most distinguished name in decorative firearms in America — a surprise to those who might otherwise recognize the firm as a legendary purveyor of fine silver, jewelry and luxury objects. Founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany, what became Tiffany & Co. commenced business just one year after the young inventor Samuel Colt registered his new designs for revolving pistols and long arms with the U.S. Patent Office. In the 175 years since then, the paths of Tiffany & Co. and Colt crossed many times.

The Robert M. Lee Collection is recognized as the finest selection of Tiffany & Co. arms privately owned. The collection of arms in this exhibition — including three revolvers, four pistols, one rifle, and one presentation sword — is rivaled only by those on display in the Robert M. Lee Gallery of American Arms, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Additional support provided by John and Andrea Deane. Exclusive sponsorship of Tiffany & Co. Arms from the collection of Robert M. Lee provided by Wayne L. Prim Foundation.

The exhibitions that comprise Art Glass of the Tiffany Era will be on view February 11 through May 20, 2012. Programming, including lectures, performing art, a film, and tours, will be offered in conjunction with the exhibition. The E.L. Cord Museum School will also offer classes, workshops, and design studios on the design and craft of art glass.

The only accredited art museum in the state, it is a private, non-profit organization supported by the generosity of its membership as well as by sponsorships and grants. Through creative programming and scholarship, the Museum provides the opportunity for people to encounter, engage and enjoy a diversity of art experiences.

The art of local Reno artist, Mark Hammon, is now displayed at the North Tahoe Event Center and will remain in the Center until March, 2012. Mark’s photography is the culmination of his love and appreciation of nature and the world around us, his visual acuity, and a strong interest in technology.

Mark shoots locally and throughout the Western United States. Although his passion is fine art nature and landscape photography, he has also works in commercial and stock photography. His work has been published in several notable publications and shown in an assortment of galleries and exhibitions in the Reno-Tahoe area. Even though he is primarily self-taught, he has had the opportunity to share his knowledge by teaching beginning and intermediate photographers in a variety of venues.

Mark has been fascinated with photography from a very young age, shooting his first roll of film in kindergarten and from there onto his father’s 35mm SLR. In College, Mark opened a rental darkroom store and studio and shot professionally as a commercial and product photographer. Mark’s interest in computer graphics led to a career in computers where he has been published several times as a computer artist, game developer and desktop publisher. Now that digital photography has truly come into its own and is offering the photographer tools and creative options that were never available prior, the passion of photography can now combine with the fascination of computers.

Finally, the love of nature and the outdoors comes together with photography and computers. Mark feels that without the ‘right’ image a photograph is only a limited two dimensional representation of a moment in time.

Although, the ‘right’ image will inspire memories – spray on your face from a raging water fall, the sound of a crashing wave on a beach, the sensation of a gentle breeze cresting over you and the ridge you are traversing or the chill of early morning air on a winters morning – It is these memories that interact with the image to create a feeling that can take you to places you could never get in your living room, bedroom or office. If this occurs, the photographer has succeeded in capturing more than a mere representation; they have captured feelings. My goal is to capture images that inspire these feelings in you, the viewer, and will take you on little mental journeys.

The public is invited to come into the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach, CA during normal business hours to view the art on display at no charge.

Truckee artist and designer, Sara Zimmerman, is celebrating her newest artworks entitled “Healing” at Riverside Studios through February.

Sara’s “Healing” series reflects her path of trying to find emotional, spiritual and physical healing through art, many alternative healing modalities, and mindfulness.

Sara’s unique artworks will be on display from January 6, 2012 through February 2012 and is open to the public.

“My healing artworks are my visual therapy for working through emotional and spiritual challenges. Regardless of where people are in their own journey towards becoming a better or healthier person, creating art like this most likely can help their process. It has for me.” – Sara

Through these works, Sara experiments with what a certain thought or feeling truly feels like, painting those first in colorful, textured layers. It is a very abstract process that requires a lot of quiet and inner exploration so she can “see” what colors and shapes really come to mind when thinking of a particular issue.

Second, she paints what she feels is needed in the healing process by adding different colors that evoke a healing thought. Finally, Sara adds the last layers that end up as visual reminders to her of what she needs to see to remember what it feels like to feel healed and whole. Included in these pieces are “Strength,” “Voice,” “The Royal Feminine,” and “Soul.”

“Healing” will be on display from January 2012 through February 2012 at Riverside Studios, upstairs at 10060 Donner Pass Rd in Truckee, CA.
