The Game of Life by Carole Sesko at Trio Wine Bar and Bistro in Truckee

The timeless elegance of a Truckee landmark is further accentuated with the whimsical and enchanting paintings of local mixed media artist, Carole Sesko.

But it’s much more than art. It’s a beautiful reflection of Carole’s personal ties to the close knit community of Truckee where she has lived for over two decades.

Art works by Carole Sesko are currently on display at Trio Wine Bar and Bistro located inside the historic Kruger White House in Truckee.

Carole has a a special relationship with the historic building; a beautiful, regal 1860’s Victorian mansion, elegantly restored, and surprisingly modern. The space itself is a treat: tall arched windows, lots of filigree, nice light, comfortable furniture, and very well designed. A space punctuated even more so now by Carole’s paintings and her story that makes the building feel like home to her.

When she first moved to Truckee, she worked in another restaurant that was located there (called CB White’s) for three years in the mid 1980’s. Carole made some life long friends during this time, and recalls staying over night many times when they were all trapped by snowstorms. A recurring theme for one of the snowiest cities in the U.S.

Back then an antique store shared space at the Kruger White House, which Carole would frequent to purchase antique lace scraps. Twenty years later, Carole found this stash of antique lace and embedded pieces into some of her current paintings. Now those paintings are hanging inside Trio. Talk about coming around full circle!

The art works are constructed of acrylic and mixed media on wood or canvas.

“Though the art works have that contemporary, process-driven feel, I think they show beautifully in this Victorian environment. The art compliments the building. Maybe that’s because of my personal history there, or maybe it’s from reusing the materials which originated from part the building’s history.” Carole Sesko

The art and ambiance combined with seasonal fresh delicacies, chef’s specials and extensive wine list makes Trio Wine Bar and Bistro a definite must during your next visit to Truckee.

Trio Wine Bar and Bistro is open 4:00pm to midnight, 7 nights a week, and serve dinner from 5pm-11:01pm.  And not one minute more.

Truckee is a special place and people who like to create, like Carole, are definitely affected by their location. What a great place to grow as a person and artist. Place, relationships and creative expression – what more can one ask. Very nice work. Thanks Tahoe Culture.
