North Lake Tahoe artist Heidi Reeves will be demonstrating the art of pastels at the North Tahoe Art Center in Tahoe City, Saturday, October 15th from noon to 2pm.
Members and all levels of artists are welcome to attend and create in a supportive atmosphere. Just bring an easel.
Ms. Reeves has worked in watercolor for many years, but most recently has enjoyed working with pastels. Her exhibit will include a sample of her landscape and portrait work in these mediums.
Art has been a part of Heidi’s life since birth. Her grandmother was an oil painter and from the age of seven, Heidi spent weekends with her.”She would set me up with an easel and brushes and show me how to create magic,” reminisces Heidi. However, the magic was put on hold while married life and children took center stage. While Heidi moved to North Lake Tahoe in 1979, it wasn’t until 1992 that she took her first watercolor class.
“My love for art is truly a gift from God and when anyone sees my work and is touched emotionally by one of the paintings, I feel like I am giving that gift back to him,” says Heidi. Living in Tahoe for 30 years has only increased my awe of creation and love. I hope that I can capture a minute part of that beauty on paper.”
Although Ms. Reeves has no formal training in art, she has attended workshops taught by some of the best watercolor painters in America.
She began teaching classes in 2001 in Reno, Tahoe and Grass Valley. Her work has been exhibited at the North Tahoe Art Center, Pogan Gallery, and Lakeside Gallery.
Come see Heidi demonstrate her talents and learn about the grace and beauty of pastels at the North Tahoe Art Center, 380 North Lake Blvd in Tahoe City, next to the fire station.
