Celebrate the opening of artist Charli Beck’s new collection Land Lines on Nov. 1 from 6-8pm at Bona Fide Books with light refreshments.
Beck synthesizes landscape art and abstraction in a new way through mixed media mountain portraiture on wood panels.
About the Artist
Charli Beck is a recent graduate from the art program at Humboldt State University, where she began drawing the mountains she missed so much during her stay on the coast. She has chosen to describe the natural world on a surface that has been altered from nature to human product (the wood panels) as a way to discuss human interaction with nature. The work is about exploration and the feelings associated with being outside. As far as medium is concerned, anything goes. She is not a painter but paint often finds its way into these drawings, as does collage, wood burning, and wood cut, but the world has so much to offer that she is still exploring even as she works her way through a piece.
Charli Beck’s work will be at Bona Fide HQ through November. Make an appointment to view, or drop in at 1069 Magua St., No. 4, in Meyers.
