“Age is no excuse. It’s the challenge that keeps you sharp and impassioned.” Amen.
This pretty much sums up David and his art career on display at the Haldan Art Gallery at the Lake Tahoe Community College through November 30, 2012.
David Schnabel (1924-2010) was an accomplished artist as well as a professor in the Art Department at Pasadena City College from 1950-1986 and Department Chair from 1978-1986. His work has been displayed in various galleries throughout the American Southwest, and he was the recipient of a variety of honors and awards in both drawing and oils. Public displays of his work can now be seen at the Pasadena Art Museum, Sierra Madre Library, San Bernardino Valley College, Pasadena City College, and the state office of the NAACP. Reproductions of his work are included in three art publications by Joseph Mugnaini. The Pasadena Arts Council awarded him the Golden Crown Award for his commitment to his students and his significant contribution to the cultural life of his community.
David’s work on display at Haldan Art Gallery was donated to Lake Tahoe Community College to further student learning and to contribute to the community college system which he valued so highly.
