The Reno and Lake Tahoe landscape is surprisingly varied, especially when presented through the eyes of multi award winning artist/designer and Arts Educator Carol Foldvary-Anderson who has lived throughout the area for over 30 years, from Lake Tahoe, California, to Jackpot to Reno to Pyramid Lake, Nevada.
“The diversity of the area’s topography, terrain and panorama: in its entirety, of textures, lines, shapes and forms is both at times gentle and extreme, magnificent, and truly Ah inspiring,” states Foldvary-Anderson.
Carol was encouraged and inspired to pursue her artistic career after attending a public monthly meeting at the Tahoe Art League in South Shore, back in the late 1980s. She later met the group that was organizing the Tahoe Tallac Association, at the time, and became a member of the Board. With friend and associate Michelle Langlois Ott she helped in the design of the “Wall of Honor” noting the Donors who had help to fund the facility of the South Tahoe Recreation Departments Ice Arena. She worked with the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Chamber as one of 51 artist’s that decorated a life size Bear for the “CeleBeartion” campaign and fundraiser, with the Tahoe Daily Tribune as her sponsor. Recently she decorated a fish for the “Run Salmon Run” fundraiser for the Tahoe Tallac Association, just last year.
A great deal has happened in this multi award winning Artist’s career since the 1980s and her first meeting at the Tahoe Art League. She has gone on to receiving several large public art commissions with WNC Western Nevada College. A grant recipient on several occasions with the (NAC) Nevada State Arts Council and even illustrating the Silver States Millennium Coin in the year 2000, plus a commission to create an Ornament for the White House.
Her search has always been in finding the perfect technique to express herself and the beautiful landscapes of our area. She has found it in Oil Pastel Smudge and she enjoys teaching others how to do the same. Writing positive words beautifully are also her passion and Calligraphy fills the bill on that note.
“I am truly indebted to so many of the wonderful people I met and worked with in South Lake Tahoe” states Foldvary-Anderson. “I sincerely pleased to be back and offering workshops in what I truly love: Creating beauty and inspiring joy through my Art!”
