Tahoe Culture candacenicolArtists and fans of beautiful art have at least three great reasons to visit Lake Tahoe Community College until December 5, 2014.

In the foyer of the Duke Theatre in the Fine Arts building, you’ll find the works of  local artist Amy Hackleman’s “Grey Matter.”  Hackleman teaches photography classes at LTCC.

In the Haldan Art Gallery inside the library building, Candace Nicol’s “Postures and Parts: Construction of the Male Nude” is open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information about this exhibit and gallery, visit the Haldan Gallery website at

Showing in the Student Art Gallery in the Main Building is the Winner’s Exhibition. This exhibit includes award-winning student artwork from the 2014 Annual Student Art Exhibition, plus some new works by the winning artists.

All three will launch with an Artist’s Reception and talk on Thursday, Oct. 2 starting at 5 p.m. The entire community is welcome to all three exhibits to meet the artists, ask questions about their process, and enjoy some light refreshments.

We live in a special place. A place so beautiful it nurtures the soul and creative spirit. A place so breathtaking it inspires conservation. A mountain culture that masters the fine art of living. Welcome to this place we call home. Welcome to Lake Tahoe. Meet the local artists, individuals, businesses and events that define our unique mountain culture and embody Tahoe's creative and entrepreneurial spirit.
