Less than 30 years ago, where bike paths, parking for rafters, and the Tahoe Rim Trail now meander along the Truckee River in Tahoe City, the Tahoe City Trailer Park was located on a big chunk of what most folks now know as 64 Acres. A rickety, old one-lane bridge crossed the river, about where the bike bridge is now, to a loop containing several dozen mobile homes. It was different place.

Evening in the Marsh by Bonita Paulis selected as TAMC Sticker 5

“Evening in the Marsh” shown here painted by South Lake Tahoe artist Bonita Paulis has been selected as the Tahoe Arts and Mountain Culture (TAMC) collectible sticker #5.

Bonita’s romantic depiction of the Upper Truckee Marsh, the largest wetland habitat and watershed filtration system in the Lake Tahoe Basin, was painted last summer.  Just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Highway 50, this special place represents our commitment to stewardship and is a welcome oasis for all of Lake Tahoe’s inhabitants.

TRPA Announces Winners of Lake Spirit Awards

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency announced the winners of the Lake Spirit Awards honoring “real people making real progress protecting Lake Tahoe” at their first-ever Community Appreciation Day event held on September 29 at TRPA’s office.

Two winners (one from the North Shore and one from the South) were honored for going above and beyond the call of duty to protect the beauty and clarity of Lake Tahoe and the Basin environment.  “They represent the many unsung heroes tirelessly working to protect this special place,” explained TRPA Executive Director, Joanne Marchetta, in announcing the awards. read more →
