Watercolorist Kate Aubrey at Tahoe Art League meeting June 9

Kate Aubrey has been a devoted watercolorist for the last 33 years and has recently expanded into multimedia works, including combinations of watercolor with gouache, pen and ink and/or pastels. Having lived in Colorado, Alaska and northern Nevada she especially enjoys working out in nature creating plein air landscape paintings.

Kate Aubrey will be the featured presenter at the Tahoe Art League June 9 meeting at the Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., from 7 to 9pm.  It’s free too. read more →

As a native of South Lake Tahoe and thriving young artist, she provides a refreshing perspective of life at Lake Tahoe such as her delightful depiction of Fannette Island and Emerald Bay.

Lauren Sannazzaro started drawing at age fifteen as a form of escapism creating colorfully detailed abstract designs. With an insatiable desire to learn more about art, she attended her first art class at Lake Tahoe Community College at age sixteen.

St. Mary’s Art Center featured at TAL meeting May 12

During World War II, it was stripped for metal salvage and abandoned until 1964, when the pastor of a nearby church proposed that it be renovated into an art center, rather than torn down.

For the month of May, the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance is challenging all of us to meet the goal of 10,000 steps a day. That’s the equivalent of walking roughly five miles and meeting the Surgeon General’s recommendation of 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity physical activity on all, or most, days of the week.
