JT Holmes BASE jump kicks off Squaw’s 60th ski season Nov 21

A BASE jump will highlight the 60th anniversary celebration on Squaw Valley’s opening day on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Anchoring the opening day ceremonies is a BASE jump from the top of the resort’s cable car by Squaw Valley Pro skier JT Holmes. Ceremonies begin at 2 p.m.
Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley will also be part of the opening day festivities as he will host an anniversary toast and celebration on the KT Sundeck from 2-3:45 p.m.
The celebration begins with a mighty mite parade and cake- lighting ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by a champagne toast by Nancy Cushing. At 2:35 p.m, there will be the screening of “Squaw Valley USA — 60 Legendary Years.”
In addition to skiing, riding, and opening day festivities, guests can enjoy the snow as Papoose will be open for snowtubing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. High Camp will be open for ice skating from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and for lunch and drinks at the Terrace overlooking Lake Tahoe from 11:30 a.m . to 4 p.m. Beginning at 10:40 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, the cable car will be leaving every 20 minutes, with the last trip up the mountain at 3:40 pm and the last departure at 4:40 pm. All lift tickets also include cable car access.
The cable car will be closed for uploads and downloads from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. for Holmes’ BASE jump.
